Release of “KVKs in Action: Innovation, Practice and Impact”

We are pleased to share the release of the book “KVKs in Action: Innovation, Practice and Impact: 25 Good Practice Notes” from ICAR-ATARI (Zone X). Hon’ble DDG (Agricultural Extension), ICAR, Dr Rajvir Singh, formally released the book at a function held at ICAR-KVK, Ranga Reddy, on 4th November 2026.
The publication is the result of a collaboration between ICAR-Agricultural Technology Application Research Institute Zone X (covering Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry) and the Centre for Research on Innovation and Science Policy (CRISP), formalised through an MoU in 2025.
It brings together 25 Good Practice Notes from Krishi Vigyan Kendras, organised around four themes:
• Promoting improved management practices
• Skill development and employment promotion
• Promoting value addition and
• Promoting quality production inputs
Within these broad themes, the cases reflect the diversity of roles that KVKs perform. They demonstrate how district-level extension can combine scientific knowledge with local experience, participatory learning, institutional convergence and continuous technical support to address practical problems faced by farmers and rural communities.
In these Good Practice Notes, the authors discuss how they addressed a particular challenge or used an emerging opportunity, the steps and processes they followed, the partnerships they developed, and the benefits and outcomes of their interventions. They also examine how to sustain and scale up these successes.
We hope the book will be a useful resource for extension professionals, KVKs, researchers, development practitioners and policymakers working to strengthen agricultural extension and rural livelihoods.
