This report was prepared with support from the International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) as part of the STRASA (Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties for Asia and Africa) project by Nimisha Mittal, Onima V T, Rasheed Sulaiman V, Athira E. The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) has been working with Odisha’s Department of Agriculture and Farmers’ Empowerment (DAFE) to promote Stress Tolerant Rice Varieties (STRVs) in Odisha. Under this initiative, a number of varietal promotion approaches were tried. These include: organising Head to Head (H2H) trials, cluster demonstrations (CD), dealer demonstrations (DD) and the establishment of crop cafeterias (CC). This report is primarily based on an analysis of the effectiveness of these varied approaches.
